Relatives for Justice Series

https://youtu.be/GETiU5ASOB0 In this video, (the first in a series being arranged by the National Board) Mark Thompson of Relatives for Justice, explains in a few minutes just how much our AOH and LAOH FFAI work means to those in Belfast and across the north working for justice and he also updates us on Britain’s latest cover-up. He explains the importance of FFAI grants through the Christmas Appeal, political pressure on the British through Congressional letters and hearings, and publicizing the truth about British injustice across America. It is important that we continue our support of FFAI as Mark explains in the video. Please encourage your members to watch this and become informed about what is happening in Ireland. You can contact Joan Moore, FFAI Chairperson NYS LAOH via email at [email protected]

100th Anniversary of the Declaration of Irish Independence Resolution

The LAOH and AOH of NYS have been working on a Resolution proclaiming January 21, 2019, the 100th Anniversary of the  Declaration of Irish Independence.  This resolution is New York State is now being circulated in the New York State Legislature.  We are asking all sisters, as individuals, to contact their NYS Assembly and Senate members and ask them to sign on to the Resolution which is coming from Assemblyman Cusick's Office.  The Resolution Number is LBD No. 90133-03-9.

If the Resolution passes, the NYS AOH and LAOH will be in attendance on the floor of the NYS Senate and Assembly on Monday, January 28, 2019.  This is an excellent way to show our presence in the community and to mark this significant event in Irish History.  It is expected that the Senate session will start at approximately 10:00 am and the Assembly at 2:00 PM.  Following the sessions, there will be a reception at the Albany Hibernian Hall.  Please notify your members of this event; we hope you can attend this historic day in Albany.

Please see the flyer for details regarding the reception. We will post updates to Facebook and the NYS LAOH Website regarding the legislative sessions and meeting times as soon as we have those details.  If you have any questions, please contact me via email at [email protected].  Thank you.

Presentation sent to us by Fr. Gary Donegan, CP, Ardoyne, Belfast.

The slideshow depicted the pain and the progress, the anguish and the hope that has been the story in Ardoyne and across the
North for decades. While there is peace, there is still so much to overcome regarding equality, employment, justice and poverty.

Freedom For All Ireland Christmas Appeal

The FFAI Christmas Appeal is the one way that we as Hibernians can directly impact those that live in the six counties of Northern Ireland. The funds raised go towards programs that help the communities in Northern Ireland focus on building a new future of peace and community. These programs are making a difference in a very difficult economic and political climate by fostering peace and justice, and providing services and support to Irish language and dance programs, youth groups, and families.

Ladies, your generous support in the past has solidified our commitment to the people of Northern Ireland and sent them a very clear message that they are not forgotten. I have met many of them and they are truly touched by your generosity and support of this program which has made a huge difference in the quality of their lives.

Thank you for your generous support.
Wishing you a Joyous Christmas Season!

Afterward Senators and Assembly members were invited to a special event at the Albany AOH Hall.
